Have you ever become so stressed out over a job that did not even make you happy? Sure the money was decent and nice to have on the side, but were you truly happy? Did it make waking up every morning worth it? Jobs are jobs, they make you money so you can pay your bills and have extra on the side for yourself, right? Well, each job you take should make you happy. You know that saying, “money doesn’t buy you happiness”? Money, to me, doesn’t mean shit if I am not happy. I must be able to enjoy my work, for it to not even feel like a job. Then, I can truly enjoy my life and the money I make.
I recently experienced a job that I thought was a great fit at the time. The money was good, I had it as extra income. However, after a few weeks/months of knowing how everything operates, I became miserable. I was miserable waking up and following through with the amount of hours I was there. I was being unnecessarily contacted late at night and being woken up very early in the mornings, way out of normal work hours. It made me think, why am I being a slave over this job when I know I deserve better? Why am I working for people who are unorganized and have poor operation and management skills? Why am I allowing myself to be controlled by someone else?
In life, people will tell you to never allow anyone else control who you are or what you can become. Once I became more aware of how I was feeling, I realized I was making myself sick. I had two fevers in a matter of a week and a half. I am not a quitter, I am a hard worker, always do my best and never give up. However, being aware of energies and aware of my own well being, I just could not tolerate being in the building any longer. Another thing that people will tell you in life is if you are not happy, leave.
When you finally realize the unhealthy situation you are in, that’s when you finally build up the confidence, courage and faith to spread your wings. I finally decided to take the leap and step down. And you know what? I feel so alive. I feel as though I can breathe again. I can now focus on what truly makes me happy. Focusing on what makes you happy is key to living a happy and healthy life. Once you find your passion, you will never work a day in your life. Life is a journey, not a destination. So spread your wings and see where the wind takes you. Never beat yourself up over a job that means nothing to you. If you are not doing what makes you happy, you are completely wasting your time. It might take time to realize that, maybe even a few experiences to go through. But I promise, once you build that confidence, courage and faith up and take that leap, you are one step closer to a happier, healthier life.
